Locally advanced breast cancer poses significant challenges to the multidisciplinary team, in particular with hormone receptor (HR) positive, HER2-negative tumors that classically yield lower pathological complete responses with chemotherapy. The increasingly significant use of CDK 4/6 inhibitors (CDK4/6i) plus endocrine therapy (ET) in different breast cancer settings has led to clinical trials focusing on this strategy as a primary treatment, with promising results. The impact of the microbiota on cancer, and vice-versa, is an emerging topic in oncology. The authors report a clinical case of a postmenopausal female patient with an invasive breast carcinoma of the right breast, Luminal B-like, staged as cT4cN3M0 (IIIB). Since the lesion was considered primarily inoperable, the patient started letrozole and ribociclib. Following 6 months of systemic therapy, the clinical response was significant, and surgery with curative intent was performed. The final staging was ypT3ypN2aM0, R1, and the patient started adjuvant letrozole and radiotherapy. This case provides important insights on primary CDK4/6i plus ET in locally advanced unresectable HR+/HER2- breast cancer and its potential implications in disease management further ahead. The patient's gut microbiota was analyzed throughout the disease course and therapeutic approach, evidencing a shift in gut microbial dominance from Firmicutes to Bacteroidetes and a loss of microbial diversity following 6 months of systemic therapy. The analysis of the intratumoral microbiota from the surgical specimen revealed high microbial dissimilarity between the residual tumor and respective margins.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided fine-needle aspiration (FNA) is essential for the classification of pancreatic cystic lesions (PCLs). Recently, intracystic glucose has been suggested as an alternative to carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) level as a predictor of mucinous cystic lesions (M-PCLs). This study aims to evaluate the diagnostic performance of intra-cystic glucose in distinguishing between M-PCLs and non M-PCLs (NM-PCLs) and to analyze the possibility of on-site glucose measurement with a standard glucometer. METHODS: Patients with PCLs submitted to EUS-FNA with simultaneous intracystic glucose measurement between 2017 and 2022 were included. The diagnostic performance of glucose versus CEA for the differentiation between M-PCLs and NM-PCLs was compared to a final diagnosis based on the analysis of surgical specimen, intracystic biopsy or, if this data was unavailable, multidisciplinary evaluation. A cut-off of <50 mg/dL was used for the diagnosis of MCLs. Additionally, the agreement between on-site glucose determination with a standard glucometer and laboratory glucose measurement was assessed. RESULTS: Mucinous lesions accounted for 56% of all PCLs. The median values of glucose and CEA for M-PCLs were 18 mg/dL and 286 ng/mL, respectively. Intracystic glucose had a sensitivity and specificity of 93.2% and 76.5%, respectively, for the diagnosis of MCLs (versus 55.6% and 87.5%, respectively, for CEA). The area under the curve was 0.870 for on-site glucose (versus 0.806 for CEA). An excellent correlation was observed between on-site and laboratory glucose measurement (ρ=0.919). CONCLUSIONS: The measurement of intracystic glucose showed superior performance compared with CEA in distinguishing between M-PCLs and NM-PCLs, with excellent correlation between on-site and conventional lab glucose measurement. Thus, on-site intracystic glucose appears to be an excellent biomarker for the characterization of PCLs due to its low cost, high availability, and the need for a minimal cyst fluid volume for its determination.

BACKGROUND: Modern integrative taxonomy-based annelid species descriptions are detailed combining morphological data and, since the last decades, also molecular information. Historic species descriptions are often comparatively brief lacking such detail. Adoptions of species names from western literature in the past led to the assumption of cosmopolitan ranges for many species, which, in many cases, were later found to include cryptic or pseudocryptic lineages with subtle morphological differences. Natural history collections and databases can aid in assessing the geographic ranges of species but depend on correct species identification. Obtaining DNA sequence information from wet-collection museum specimens of marine annelids is often impeded by the use of  formaldehyde and/or long-term storage in ethanol resulting in DNA degradation and cross-linking. RESULTS: The application of ancient DNA extraction methodology in combination with single-stranded DNA library preparation and target gene capture resulted in successful sequencing of a 110-year-old collection specimen of quill worms. Furthermore, a 40-year-old specimen of quill worms was successfully sequenced using a standard extraction protocol for modern samples, PCR and Sanger sequencing. Our study presents the first molecular analysis of Hyalinoecia species including the previously known species Hyalinoecia robusta, H. tubicloa, H. artifex, and H. longibranchiata, and a potentially undescribed species from equatorial western Africa morphologically indistinguishable from H. tubicola. The study also investigates the distribution of these five Hyalinoecia species. Reassessing the distribution of H. robusta reveals a geographical range covering both the Atlantic and the Indian Oceans as indicated by molecular data obtained from recent and historical specimens. CONCLUSION: Our results represent an example of a very wide geographical distribution of a brooding deep-sea annelid with a complex reproduction strategy and seemingly very limited dispersal capacity of its offspring, and highlights the importance of molecular information from museum specimens for integrative annelid taxonomy and biogeography.

BACKGROUND: cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), which encompass heart and blood vessel issues, stand as the leading cause of global mortality for many people. METHODS: the present study intends to perform discrimination between seven well-known CVDs (bundle branch block, cardiomyopathy, myocarditis, myocardial hypertrophy, myocardial infarction, valvular heart disease, and dysrhythmia) and one healthy control group, respectively, by feeding a set of machine learning (ML) models with 10 non-linear features extracted every 1 s from electrocardiography (ECG) lead signals of a well-known ECG database (PTB diagnostic ECG database) using multi-band analysis performed by discrete wavelet transform (DWT). The ML models were trained and tested using a leave-one-out cross-validation approach, assessing the individual and combined capabilities of features, per each lead or combined, to distinguish between pairs of study groups and for conducting a comprehensive all vs. all analysis. RESULTS: the Accuracy discrimination results ranged between 73% and 100%, the Recall between 68% and 100%, and the AUC between 0.42 and 1. CONCLUSIONS: the results suggest that our method is a good tool for distinguishing CVDs, offering significant advantages over other studies that used the same dataset, including a multi-class comparison group (all vs. all), a wider range of binary comparisons, and the use of classical non-linear analysis under ECG multi-band analysis performed by DWT.

BACKGROUND: Hepatitis B virus (HBV) vaccination is recommended for non-immunised patients with rheumatic diseases starting biological disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (bDMARDs). There is some evidence that HBV vaccination is effective in patients under conventional synthetic disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (csDMARDs), but it is currently unclear whether this also applies to bDMARDs. OBJECTIVES: To assess the efficacy and safety of HBV vaccination in patients with inflammatory arthritides treated with bDMARDs. METHODS: A prospective cohort with inflammatory arthritides treated with bDMARDs, negative for anti-HBs and anti-HBc and never vaccinated for HBV was recruited. Engerix B was administered at 0, 1 and 6 months and anti-HBs was reassessed ≥1 month after last dose. Response was defined as anti-HBs≥10 IU/L and compared against vaccinated healthy controls. Disease flare, serious adverse events and immune-related disorders not previously present were recorded. RESULTS: 62 patients, most treated with TNF inhibitors (TNFi), and 38 controls were recruited. Most patients were taking csDMARDs (67.7%) and were in remission/low disease activity (59.4%). Only 20/62 patients (32.3%) had a positive response to vaccination, in comparison to 36/38 age-matched controls (94.7%, p<0.001). Response was seen in 19/51 patients treated with TNFi (37.3%) and in 1/11 (9.1%) patients treated with non-TNFi (p=0.07), including 1/6 treated with tocilizumab (16.7%). Among TNFi, response rates ranged from 4/22 (18.2%) for infliximab to 8/14 (57.1%) for etanercept. No relevant safety issues were identified. CONCLUSIONS: HBV vaccination response in patients with rheumatic diseases treated with bDMARDs was poorer than expected. Our data reinforce the recommendation for vaccination prior to starting bDMARDs.

We propose a solvable class of 1D quasiperiodic tight-binding models encompassing extended, localized, and critical phases, separated by nontrivial mobility edges. Limiting cases include the Aubry-André model and the models of Sriram Ganeshan, J. H. Pixley, and S. Das Sarma [Phys. Rev. Lett. 114, 146601 (2015)PRLTAO0031-900710.1103/PhysRevLett.114.146601] and J. Biddle and S. Das Sarma [Phys. Rev. Lett. 104, 070601 (2010)PRLTAO0031-900710.1103/PhysRevLett.104.070601]. The analytical treatment follows from recognizing these models as a novel type of fixed points of the renormalization group procedure recently proposed in Phys. Rev. B 108, L100201 (2023)10.1103/PhysRevB.108.L100201 for characterizing phases of quasiperiodic structures. Beyond known limits, the proposed class of models extends previously encountered localized-delocalized duality transformations to points within multifractal critical phases. Besides an experimental confirmation of multifractal duality, realizing the proposed class of models in optical lattices allows stabilizing multifractal critical phases and nontrivial mobility edges in an undriven system without the need for the unbounded potentials required by previous proposals.

BACKGROUND: The saccadic eye movement is responsible for providing focus to a visual object of interest to the retina. In sports like volleyball, identifying relevant targets quickly is essential to a masterful performance. The training improves cortical regions underlying saccadic action, enabling more automated processing in athletes. OBJECTIVE: We investigated changes in the latency during the saccadic eye movement and the absolute theta power on the frontal and prefrontal cortices during the execution of the saccadic eye movement task in volleyball athletes and non-athletes. We hypothesized that the saccade latency and theta power would be lower due to training and perceptual-cognitive enhancement in volleyball players. METHODS: We recruited 30 healthy volunteers: 15 volleyball athletes (11 men and 4 women; mean age: 15.08 ± 1.06 years) and 15 non-athletes (5 men and 10 women; mean age: 18.00 ± 1.46 years). All tasks were performed simultaneously with electroencephalography signal recording. RESULTS: The latency of the saccadic eye movement presented a significant difference between the groups; a shorter time was observed among the athletes, associated with the players' superiority in terms of attention level. During the experiment, the athletes observed a decrease in absolute theta power compared to non-athletes on the electrodes of each frontal and prefrontal area. CONCLUSION: In the present study, we observed the behavior of reaction time and absolute theta power in athletes and non-athletes during a saccadic movement task. Our findings corroborate the premise of cognitive improvement, mainly due to the reduction of saccadic latency and lower beta power, validating the neural efficiency hypothesis.


ANTECEDENTES: O movimento ocular sacádico é responsável por dar foco a um objeto visual de interesse para a retina. Em esportes como o vôlei, identificar alvos relevantes o mais rápido possível é essencial para se ter um desempenho magistral. O treinamento melhora as regiões corticais subjacentes à ação sacádica, e permite um processamento mais automatizado em atletas. OBJETIVO: Investigamos as mudanças na latência durante o movimento ocular sacádico e a potência teta absoluta nos córtices frontal e pré-frontal durante a execução da tarefa de movimento ocular sacádico em atletas e não atletas de voleibol. Nossa hipótese é a de que a latência sacádica e a potência teta seriam menores em atletas devido ao treinamento e ao aprimoramento perceptivo-cognitivo em jogadores de voleibol. MéTODOS: Ao todo, 30 voluntários saudáveis foram recrutados para este estudo: 15 atletas de voleibol (11 homens e 4 mulheres; idade média: 15,08 ± 1,06 anos) e 15 não atletas (5 homens e 10 mulheres; idade média: 18,00 ± 1,46 anos). Todas as tarefas foram realizadas simultaneamente com o registro do sinal eletroencefalográfico. RESULTADOS: O resultado da latência do movimento ocular sacádico apresentou diferença significativa entre os grupos, sendo observado menor tempo entre os atletas, associado à superioridade dos jogadores em termos de nível de atenção. Durante o experimento, nos eletrodos de cada área frontal e pré-frontal, observou-se uma diminuição na potência teta absoluta nos atletas em comparação aos não atletas. CONCLUSãO: Neste estudo, observou-se o comportamento do tempo de reação e da potência teta absoluta em atletas e não atletas durante uma tarefa de movimento sacádico. Nossos achados corroboram a premissa de melhora cognitiva, principalmente pela redução da latência sacádica e menor potência beta, o que valida a hipótese de eficiência neural.

CASE REPORT: A 68-year-old male treated with secukinumab for psoriatic arthritis suspended treatment for three months due to COVID pandemic. Upon secukinumab reintroduction, anorexia and weight loss ensued and four months later he had an abrupt onset of low-grade fever, fatigue, flu-like symptoms, dyspnoea and widespread inflammatory arthralgias. Laboratory investigations showed de novo anaemia, leukopenia, lymphopenia, cytocholestasis, elevated acute phase reactants, C3 complement consumption, proteinuria (1630mg/24h), active urine sediment, positive antinuclear (1:1280) and anti-double-stranded DNA (212.3 IU/mL) antibodies. Chest imaging showed peripheral pulmonary embolism, lobar pneumonia, and a small bilateral pleural effusion. Drug-induced lupus erythematosus (DILE) was suspected, and the patient was hospitalised. Secukinumab was discontinued and treatment with enoxaparin, antibiotics, enalapril, hydroxychloroquine and prednisolone 0.5mg/kg qd was started. Clinical and laboratorial remission ensued after one month except for proteinuria (decreased to 653mg/24h). Proliferative lupus nephritis was assumed and mycophenolate mofetil was introduced, with sustained complete remission over a 33-month follow-up. DISCUSSION: This is the second reported case of systemic secukinumab-associated DILE, and the first with renal involvement. Clinical and laboratory features of DILE are reviewed and compared with previously described cases.

INTRODUCTION: Neuroscience studies brain dynamics through the analysis of electrical signals. Cortical activity estimated by electroencephalography brings accurate information about perceptions of human behavior. The examination of resting states in relation to subsequent behaviors indicates that intrinsic cortical activity (ICA) has implications for decision-making processes, especially when inserted in the context of military activities and associated with stress. The objective of this study was to compare the absolute alpha power (AAP) in the ICA in the pre-task moment of novice specialized military (NG) with experienced (ExpG), associating with the level of stress. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This was a cross-sectional, observational study with 19 military personnel (32.1 years old), divided into NG (10) and ExpG (9). The ICA was the outcome variable, with the level of stress and the time of specialization in military tasks as the exposure variables. ICA analysis were carried out based on the cortical areas to compare the ICA of the NG with that of the ExpG. The association of stress level with ICA was estimated by linear regression via linear models. RESULTS: There was a significant difference in almost all cortical areas, and the averages were always higher in Exp. The high stress level was associated with greater AAP both for the NG and for the ExpG, and at the medium level, the AAP was obtained, varying according to each cortical area. CONCLUSION: The AAP in ExpG was significantly higher than that in NG, indicating a lower level of cortical activity and greater efficiency in sensory, motor, and visual tasks.

The Real Relationship is a relational construct that has influenced other constructs, like the working alliance, although empirically neglected. The development of the Real Relationship Inventory provides a reliable and valid way of measuring the Real Relationship in research and clinical applications. This study aimed to validate and explore the psychometric properties of the Real Relationship Inventory Client Form with a Portuguese adult sample in the context of psychotherapy. The sample includes 373 clients currently in psychotherapy or concluded recently. All clients completed the Real Relationship Inventory (RRI-C) and the Working Alliance Inventory. The confirmatory analysis revealed the same two factors in the RRI-C for the Portuguese adult population, Genuineness and Realism. The observation of the same factor structure suggests the cross-cultural value of the Real Relationship. The measure demonstrated good internal consistency and acceptable adjustment. A significant correlation was found between the RRI-C and the Working Alliance Inventory and significant correlations between the Bond and Genuineness and Realism subscales. The present study reflects on the RRI-C while also contributing to the importance of the Real Relationship in different cultures and clinical contexts.

INTRODUCTION: New evidence and extrapolated data from other coronaviruses suggest that symptoms and consequences of COVID-19 may persist beyond the cure. The aims of this study were to evaluate persistent symptoms after SARS-CoV-2 infection and its impact on physical condition, activities of daily living, and quality-of-life; establish whether symptom persistence is associated with higher disability; and document the evolution of the multiple domains after a home exercise program. METHODS: Prospective study with patients referred to a Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine clinic, after SARS-CoV-2 infection. Patient evaluations, including a symptom questionnaire, the 1-Min Sit-to-stand test (1-MSTS), the EQ-5D questionnaire and the London Chest Activity Daily Living (LCA-DL) questionnaire, were performed before and after a home exercise program. RESULTS: Seventy-four patients were included. The majority (n = 71) had been hospitalized (mean stay 19.66 ± 13.35 days), 51% required intensive care. At first evaluation, 54 days after symptom onset, a mean of 18.6 repetitions in the 1-MSTS were performed. The percentage of LCA-DL was above 28% in 23% of the patients. Impairments on EQ-5D were present in 44% for mobility and 44% for anxiety/depression. Mean EQ-5D VAS was 66.5 out of 100. Fifty-one (70%) had at least one persistent symptom (Symptomatic Group), while 22 (30%) were asymptomatic (Asymptomatic Group). The Symptomatic Group had statistically significantly worse mean results on 1-MSTS (16.8 vs 22.9; p < 0.001), % LCA-DL score, EQ-D5 (7.8 vs 5.7; p < 0.001) and EQ-D5-VAS. No patient characteristic, clinical background, comorbidity, or hospitalization characteristics was significantly different between groups. Every patient was given a home exercise program; 47 patients joined an additional rehabilitation program or were clinically discharged and were therefore excluded from the second evaluation. Twenty-seven patients participated in a second evaluation. In the matched analysis, mean 1-MSTS improved by 3.4 repetitions. Mean LCA-DL, mean EQ-5D score (7.1 to 6.6) and EQ-VAS score changed favourably and significantly. CONCLUSION: Two months after infection by SARS-CoV-2, persistent symptoms were frequent in patients referred to a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation clinic. Additionally, the SARS-CoV-2 infection, as well as the persistence of symptoms, had a negative impact in the physical condition and functionality in ADL and quality-of-life. With a home exercise program in place, a statistically significant improvement was observed. Referral of patients with persistent symptoms to Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine may be warranted.

AIMS: Acute kidney injury (AKI) is highly prevalent during hospitalization of patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D). We aimed to assess the impact of AKI and its severity and duration on the risk of hypoglycaemia in hospitalized patients with T2D. METHODS: Retrospective cohort analysis of patients with T2D, admitted at a University Hospital in 2018-2019. AKI was defined as an increase in serum creatinine by ≥ 0.3 mg/dl (48 h) or ≥ 1.5 times baseline (7 days), and hypoglycaemia as blood glucose concentration < 70 mg/dl. Patients with chronic kidney disease stage ≥ 4 were excluded. We registered 239 hospitalizations with AKI and randomly selected 239 without AKI (control). Multiple logistic regression was used to adjust for confounding factors and ROC curve analysis to determine a cutoff for AKI duration. RESULTS: The risk of hypoglycaemia was higher in the AKI group (crude OR 3.6, 95%CI 1.8-9.6), even after adjusting for covariates (OR 4.2, 95%CI 1.8-9.6). Each day of AKI duration was associated with a 14% increase in the risk of hypoglycaemia (95%CI 1.1-1.2), and a cutoff of 5.5 days of AKI duration was obtained for increased risk of hypoglycaemia and mortality. AKI severity was also associated with mortality, but showed no significant association with hypoglycaemia. Patients with hypoglycaemia had 4.4 times greater risk of mortality (95%CI 2.4-8.2). CONCLUSIONS: AKI increased the risk of hypoglycaemia during hospitalization of patients with T2D, and its duration was the main risk factor. These results highlight the need for specific protocols to avoid hypoglycaemia and its burden in patients with AKI.

BACKGROUND: Blood culture-negative infective endocarditis is a potentially severe disease that can be associated with infectious agents such as Bartonella spp., Coxiella burnetti, Tropheryma whipplei, and some fungi. CASE PRESENTATION: Reported here are two cases of blood culture-negative infective endocarditis in patients with severe aortic and mitral regurgitation in Brazil; the first case is a 47-year-old white man and the second is a 62-year-old white woman. Bartonella henselae deoxyribonucleic acid was detectable in the blood samples and cardiac valve with vegetation paraffin-fixed tissue samples. Additionally, an investigation was carried out on patients' pets, within the context of One Health, and serum samples collected from cats and dogs were reactive by indirect immunofluorescence assay. CONCLUSIONS: Even though the frequency of bartonellosis in Brazil is unknown, physicians should be aware of the possibility of blood culture-negative infective endocarditis caused by Bartonella, particularly in patients with weight loss, kidney changes, and epidemiological history for domestic animals.

We examined the effects of adding a Kettlebell Swing training program (KB) to the regular skill-training protocol (REGULAR) on cardiorespiratory fitness, cardiorespiratory/metabolic demand, and recovery to a simulated competition of female artistic gymnastics. Nine gymnasts (13±2 years) had their REGULAR complemented with a 4-week kettlebell training (REGULAR+KB), consisting of 3 sessions/week of 12x30" swings x 30" rest with » of their body weight, while 9 aged-matched gymnasts acted as a comparison group. Peak oxygen uptake ([Formula: see text]) during routines was estimated from the O2 recovery curve using backward extrapolation and off-kinetics parameters were modeled through a mono-exponential function. Heart rate (HR) was monitored continuously and capillary blood lactate (BLa-) was measured before and after each routine (1st and 3rd min). Cardiorespiratory fitness ([Formula: see text]) was evaluated using a ramp cycle ergometer test. A training-by-time interaction effect was observed for [Formula: see text] (p = 0.009) as increments were only observed after REGULAR+KB (M = 8.85, SD = 9.67 ml.kg.min-1). No training-by-time interactions were observed for HRpeak (p = 0.39), [Formula: see text] (p = 0.07), or La-post3 (p = 0.25), both training protocols reduced HRpeak (M = -12; SD = 11 b.min-1) and BLa-post1 (M = -0.70; SD = 1.29 mmol.L-1) during the simulated competition, but not relative [Formula: see text]. No training-by-time interaction was observed for the off-transient [Formula: see text] time constant (p = 0.38). [Formula: see text] recovery was slower (M = 5; SD = 10 s) after both protocols. Both training protocols improved cardiorespiratory and metabolic demands and recovery kinetics to a simulated competition of female artistic gymnastics, although increases in cardiorespiratory fitness were only observed in REGULAR+KB.

This study aimed to assess nutrient intake, performance, intake behavior, carcass characteristics, and meat quality of sheep managed on Masai grass pastures along with intermittent concentrate supplementation, in addition to the economic impacts of applying that strategy. A sample of 24 Santa Inês sheep (12 males and 12 females) was kept for 80 days on Panicum maximum cv. Massai pastures and was supplemented daily or every other day. The voluntary intake of dry matter and nutrients was estimated. Mean daily weight gain and total weight gain were calculated and intake behavior parameters were assessed. The males were slaughtered and the weight and yield of the carcasses and meat cuts were assessed. The meat was analyzed for cooking losses, shear force, and color. The gross margin of the system was estimated from the difference between total income and operational cost. No effect was seen of the interaction between supplementation frequency and sex for any parameter assessed (p > 0.05). Intermittent supplementation of Santa Inês sheep managed with Masai grass is recommended since the strategy does not impact nutrient intake, performance, intake behavior, carcass characteristics, or meat quality, but lowers the costs of producing 1 kg of meat by 15%.

RESUMO

Placental macrophages are highly heterogeneous cells with differential phenotypes and functions defined by differential origins and modulated by the changing placental environment. During pregnancy, placental macrophages play a critical role in embryo implantation, placenta formation and homeostasis, fetal development and parturition. This review summarizes recent findings on the cellular origin of placental macrophages, and provide a comprehensive description of their phenotypes, corresponding molecular markers and functions in human placenta. Finally, alterations of placental macrophages in pregnancy-related diseases are discussed.

Since the beginning of 2020, Coronavirus Disease 19 (COVID-19) has attracted the attention of the World Health Organization (WHO). This paper looks into the infection mechanism, patient symptoms, and laboratory diagnosis, followed by an extensive assessment of different technologies and computerized models (based on Electrocardiographic signals (ECG), Voice, and X-ray techniques) proposed as a diagnostic tool for the accurate detection of COVID-19. The found papers showed high accuracy rate results, ranging between 85.70% and 100%, and F1-Scores from 89.52% to 100%. With this state-of-the-art, we concluded that the models proposed for the detection of COVID-19 already have significant results, but the area still has room for improvement, given the vast symptomatology and the better comprehension of individuals' evolution of the disease.

Probing two-dimensional single-layer quantum magnets remains a significant challenge. In this Letter, we propose exploiting tunneling spectroscopy in the presence of magnetic impurities to obtain information about the magnon dispersion relations in analogy to quasiparticle interference in nonmagnetic materials. We show that this technique can be used to establish the dispersion relations even for frustrated magnets, where the presence of an impurity generally leads to a nontrivial spin texture. Finally, we consider the problem of establishing Chern magnon bands in 2D magnets showing how tunable impurities allow one to probe the nature of the surface states.

In this first analysis, samples from 23 BC survivors (group 1) and 291 healthy female controls (group 2) were characterised through the V3 and V4 regions that encode the "16S rRNA" gene of each bacteria. The samples were sequenced by next-generation sequencing (NGS), and the taxonomy was identified by resorting to Kraken2 and improved with Bracken, using a curated database called 'GutHealth_DB'. The α and ß-diversity analyses were used to determine the richness and evenness of the gut microbiota. A non-parametric Mann-Whitney U test was applied to assess differential abundance between both groups. The Firmicutes/Bacteroidetes (F/B) ratio was calculated using a Kruskal-Wallis chi-squared test. The α-diversity was significantly higher in group 1 (p = 0.28 × 10-12 for the Chao index and p = 1.64 × 10-12 for the ACE index). The Shannon index, a marker of richness and evenness, was not statistically different between the two groups (p = 0.72). The microbiota composition was different between the two groups: a null hypothesis was rejected for PERMANOVA (p = 9.99 × 10-5) and Anosim (p = 0.04) and was not rejected for ß-dispersion (p = 0.158), using Unifrac weighted distance. The relative abundance of 14 phyla, 29 classes, 25 orders, 64 families, 116 genera, and 74 species differed significantly between both groups. The F/B ratio was significantly lower in group 1 than in group 2, p < 0.001. Our study allowed us to observe significant taxonomic disparities in the two groups by testing the differences between BC survivors and healthy controls. Additional studies are needed to clarify the involved mechanisms and explore the relationship between microbiota and BC survivorship.
